Billing

Introduction

FATdrop now uses monthly send credits instead of bandwidth. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of credits that refresh on your billing day. You can top up with extra credits at any time.

You can compare plans on the account plans page. If you need help choosing, please contact us.

Monthly credits by plan

  • Essential: 50 credits/month
  • Standard: 2,000 credits/month
  • Premiere: 10,000 credits/month
  • Definitive: Unlimited credits/month

Monthly credits expire one month after they are added.

Buying top-up credits

Top-ups are sold in packs of 500 credits. A bundle of 5 packs costs the price of 4. Pricing per pack depends on your plan and is shown at checkout. Top-up credits expire 60 days after purchase.

How credits are used

Normal promos (sending to mailing lists)

  • Each unique recipient costs one credit per track in the promo. For example, sending a 4-track promo to 100 unique recipients uses 400 credits.
  • Resending to the same recipients is free for 6 weeks from the first send date of that campaign. Sends to new recipients still use credits.
  • Each unique person who opens the promo via a public link uses one credit per track.
  • You can set a maximum credit cap for a public link. When the cap is reached (or your account runs out of available credits), the link will show as unavailable until you increase the cap or add credits.

Scheduled sends

  • Credits are deducted on the scheduled send date, not when scheduling.
  • If your balance looks insufficient the day before a scheduled send, we’ll email a reminder so you can top up.
  • If there aren’t enough credits at send time, we’ll send to as many recipients as your remaining credits allow.

Editing a campaign after sending

  • Adding tracks after a campaign has already been sent will incur additional credits based on the extra tracks and any recipients who still have access.
  • Removing tracks does not refund credits.

Managing access via mailing lists

  • Granting access to a campaign from a mailing list uses credits. Turning access off does not refund credits.

Boosts

  • Boosting your promo costs 5 credits per person per track (i.e. the normal sending rate multiplied by 5). For example, boosting a 4 track EP to 100 people would cost 2000 credits.
  • When you submit a Boost, the estimated credits are reserved. If the Boost is not fully sent or is declined, unused reserved credits are returned.

Billing day and invoices

  • Your monthly subscription is charged on your billing day. An invoice is generated and your saved payment method will be charged shortly after.
  • You can see your next invoice date in your account settings or the invoices page.

Changing your billing details or payment method

  • Update your billing details in the 'Account' tab of your settings. When changing payment method, we'll issue a 60p charge to confirm it works. This 60p will then be deducted from your next monthly invoice.
  • When making a payment you can also update your payment method by clicking 'pay with a different method'.

Accepted payment methods

  • Debit cards: Electron, Mastercard debit, Visa debit
  • Credit cards: Mastercard, Visa, American Express
  • Other: PayPal

Pausing or cancelling your subscription

If you don’t need to use your account for a period, you can switch to the free-tier Essential plan in the 'Account' tab of your settings to avoid subscription charges. This takes effect on your next billing day and your promos remain online until then.

Switching back to a paid plan takes effect immediately and your billing day changes to the day you switch back.

Changing plans

  • Upgrading from Essential: we’ll charge the new plan immediately and set your billing day to today.
  • Upgrading from one paid plan to another: choose to upgrade now (billing day becomes today) or schedule the upgrade for your next billing day.
  • Downgrading to a lower plan always takes effect on your next billing day.

If you need help choosing the right plan, please contact us.

Invoices

Invoices are emailed to the primary user, the billing user (if set) and any custom users with access to invoices. You can also download invoices from your invoices page.

Send credits vs bandwidth (legacy)

Our old system used bandwidth. If you need the legacy documentation for reference, see Legacy Billing.

I have not used my account, why have I been sent an invoice?

FATdrop is a subscription based service with a rolling contract. It is important to remember that even if you don't send any campaigns in a given month, your promos will still be online and accessible to your recipients and might still be attracting downloads. If you don't wish to use your account for a period you need to switch your account to the Essential Plan to avoid being invoiced your normal subscription fee.
