Downloading Promos

Activating the download on a promo

Downloads are activated by leaving feedback for the promo. You can be required to give any/all of the following in order to unlock the downloads: - Leaving a feedback comment
- Giving the promo a rating out of 5 stars
- Choosing a favourite track using the hearts

In addition, if you haven't already given your name then some senders will require you to enter that in the 'name' field before allowing you to download.

If the download icons are greyed out for you, make sure to enter your name (if you haven't already) as well as give all 3 types of feedback (comment, rating, favourite track) and then click 'submit' and the downloads should become enabled. It's also possible that individual track downloads are disabled on this particular promo, in which case you have to download the whole release as a .zip file (the download icon at the bottom of the release tracklist).

If you've entered your name and given all three types of feedback but both single track downloads and the zip download option are still greyed out, this means the promo is streaming only and not available for download.

Downloading promos to Dropbox

The default on FATdrop promos is to download the files to the device you're accessing the promo from. If you'd prefer to instead send your FATdrop downloads straight to Dropbox (for example if you're listening on a mobile device) then you can follow the instructions below to set this up.

First, either head to the download options page in your recipient dashboard and click '+ add dropbox' or alternatively, click the download options icon on a promo itself (the gear/cog symbol at the top right of the tracklist) and then select “+ New Dropbox Account” from the drop-down menu under 'download location'.

After allowing access in the pop-up which appears, you'll be able to select your Dropbox account as prefered download location. Promos will now sync directly with your Dropbox account rather than downloading directly to your device.

Your download location preference is saved per device, so it's possible to have Dropbox as the download location on your mobile device while still leaving 'my computer' as the download option on your computer/laptop. You can also link multiple Dropbox accounts to your FATdrop account if you'd like, and unlinking Dropbox accounts can be done by visiting the settings in your dashboard.

Changing your default download format

As long as the sender of the promo has enabled lossless downloads, you can decide yourself whether you download the promo in WAV, AIFF, FLAC or 320kbps MP3 formats.

You can set your preference either in the download options page in your recipient dashboard or by clicking the download options icon on a promo itself (the gear/cog symbol at the top right of the tracklist).

If you've chosen a lossless format (WAV, AIFF or FLAC) as your preferred download format but you're still getting MP3s, this means that the sender of that promo has not enabled lossless downloads for it.
