Creating & Managing Campaigns

How do I create a campaign?

Go to Campaigns > New Campaign. Here is some more info on the various sections of the campaign creator:

Basic Settings: The name and release info of your campaign.

Promo Settings: The text and packshot as you would like it to appear in your promo. You can either upload the packshot here or select one you have already uploaded into the Files page.

Tracklist: The tracks which will be available for streaming/downloading in the promo. You can upload audio here or select from tracks already uploaded into your files page. You can also edit the ID3 tags/embedded images of the tracks and toggle whether download/watermarking will be enabled.

Misc Downloads: Here you can add any additional files eg. PDF or high-Res images to accompany your promo.

Feedback Settings: Here you can set the desired levels of feedback and enable zipped downloads should you wish.

Email Settings: Here you can create the text as you would like it to appear in the promo email.

Test Campaign: Send yourself and your colleagues a test of the campaign before it goes out to your mailing lists so that you can check for spelling mistakes or grammatical errors and verify that all downloads and streams are functioning.

Files: We recommend uploading lossless files. That way, as long as you set download quality to 'lossless' your recipients can choose themselves whether they want to download as WAV, FLAC, AIFF or 320kbps MP3.

Please Note: If you are using an integrated system (such as FUGA) for the distribution of files to DSPs (digital service providers) we can assist you in setting up FATdrop with this platform, allowing you to directly deliver campaign information. Please contact support@fatdrop.co.uk for assistance on setting this up.

Unfortunately we don't allow this at the moment. Linking to external sites might pose a privacy risk to the people downloading your promos.

Do I need to use a different template for each of my Campaigns?

There's no need to have a different template for each campaign. Those who use multiple templates normally do so as they represent multiple labels/sub-labels and they want to have different header or footer images to represent the different identities of their labels.

With just one template you can still have as many campaigns running simultaneously as you like, and each campaign can have different text, packshots, music files etc.

Can my Recipients download whole albums rather than individual tracks?

You can make an entire Album, EP or Single release available as a single zipped folder very easily. To do this:

  1. Create a campaign
  2. Specify all the downloads files in tracklist
  3. Select make downloads available as ZIP file in player settings

You'll then be given the option to offer a ZIP download only, or a choice between ZIP and individual tracks. All compatible MP3 files in the ZIP will be watermarked if you've selected that option in tracklist.

How do I revoke access to my promos for specific recipients?

You can stop individual recipients from accessing your Campaigns via two methods. If you delete their email address from your Mailing Lists this will remove their access to any campaign they have received.

Alternatively, you can block them from accessing specific campaigns in two ways: 1) Find the recipient in your mailing lists page, then click on them and use the toggles in the bottom right to choose which of your campaigns they have access to. 2) By visiting the Campaigns page and clicking 'more' and then 'Manage Access' next to the relevant campaign. You can then select the specific recipients that you would like to prevent from being able to access that promo, scroll down and click the 'DO IT' button to revoke their access.

You can also delete a Public Link on this page, and the link you previously generated will no longer work for anyone you shared it with. If you'd like, you can now go and generate a new Public Link to the promo in the 'more' menu next to the Campaign on the Campaigns Page.

Can my recipients only download my promos in the format I upload in?

As long as you have uploaded a lossless file (WAV, FLAC or AIF), and chosen the download quality in the campaign settings to be lossless, your recipients will be able to download the promo in either WAV, FLAC, AIF or 320kbps MP3.

If you have download quality set to MP3, or if you uploaded an MP3 in the first place, your recipient will only be able to download the release as MP3.

Please note: sending a campaign in lossless will never cost more than sending it in MP3. For how credits work, see Billing.
