Using Boost
The FATdrop Boost feature helps you expand your promo reach beyond your existing mailing lists, connecting your release with new, relevant recipients across the FATdrop network.
Boost is a new feature and will be rolling out over the coming months.
To keep Boost effective, fair, and high-quality, all users must follow the guidelines below.
1. Purpose of Boost
Boost is designed to help your new music reach fresh, relevant audiences based on recipients’ listening habits and taste profiles.
It is not a tool for building mailing lists or gathering contacts. FATdrop manages all targeting and delivery to protect recipient privacy and maintain trust within the network.
2. Boost Is for New Music Only
- Boost is intended for new and current releases only.
- It should not be used to promote back catalogue or previously released material.
- Submissions that do not represent new music may be rejected or limited in reach.
3. Using the “Similar Labels” System
- The “Similar Labels” section helps FATdrop identify the most suitable audience for your Boost using our internal profiling tools.
- Choose labels that genuinely align with the taste and style of your release.
- Abuse of this system — for example, selecting unrelated or misleading labels to widen reach artificially — may result in your Boost being rejected or paused.
- Repeated misuse may lead to temporary or permanent suspension of access to the Boost feature.
4. Content Standards
To maintain quality and trust across the network:
- Your promo and associated email must not contain text or links encouraging recipients to join your mailing list, subscribe, or share their contact details.
- Do not include misleading subject lines, clickbait, or content unrelated to the release.
- Promos submitted through Boost should reflect high-quality music and a professional visual presentation. Poorly produced audio, low-effort artwork, or unprofessional design may result in rejection.
- Any abusive, hateful, or discriminatory content — whether in text, visuals, or audio — will be rejected immediately and may lead to suspension from the Boost feature.
- FATdrop reserves the right to review and reject any Boost campaign that breaches these standards or undermines the intent of the feature.
5. Audience Size and Credit Use
- FATdrop will always aim to deliver your Boost to as many relevant recipients as possible, based on their taste profiles and engagement data.
- If we cannot find a large enough or suitably matched audience, your campaign will still be delivered to the best available recipients.
- Any unused credits will be returned to your account.
- Delivery size may vary depending on demand, availability, and audience overlap.
6. Reputation and Targeting
- FATdrop uses a reputation system to help align campaign quality with audience engagement.
- When Reputation Targeting is selected in the Boost settings, FATdrop prioritises delivery to recipients with a higher reputation wherever possible.
- To reach high-reputation audiences, clients should focus on sending quality, relevant music that gains positive feedback.
- Each client has a reputation score based on a variety of factors including the quality of their past promos and the reactions they receive from recipients.
- Over time, the better your boosts perform, the more influential recipients you'll reach.
- The geographic and segment filters use heuristic targeting. Kato identifies an audience that looks like they are in that group, but also makes mistakes. We can’t guarantee that all recipients will be in the locations and industry segments chosen. .
7. Fair Use and Quality Control
- FATdrop continuously monitors Boost performance and user behaviour to protect the quality of the network.
- Activity that diminishes service quality — such as spam-like content, deceptive metadata, irrelevant submissions, or repeated rejections — may result in campaign rejection or account review.
- FATdrop reserves the right to adjust delivery, refund, or restrict access if necessary to maintain fairness and effectiveness.
8. Data Privacy
- FATdrop respects the privacy of all recipients within the Boost network.
- Campaign reports may show recipient names and other user-submitted information, but email addresses and private contact details are never shared.
- Engagement data is shown only to the sender and may be aggregated or anonymised where appropriate.
- Boost operates under FATdrop’s general Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
9. Support and Disputes
If you believe a Boost was incorrectly rejected or misapplied, please contact support@fatdrop.co.uk.
We review all cases fairly and aim to resolve them quickly.
10. Updates
FATdrop may update these Boost guidelines as the feature evolves.
Continued use of Boost after any update indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
In summary:
Boost is here to help new music find the right listeners, fairly and effectively.
Respect the system, and it will deliver the best results for everyone.
